# Foundation

> Launchpad Foundation module: every step and the articles that support it.

Foundation is the first Launchpad module. It connects Lumos to your identity provider and core systems, so the AppStore, Access Reviews, and Lifecycle Management modules have the data they need.

Work through the steps in order. Each step lists the articles that support it.

<Tip>
  Connect your identity provider and email system first. Add Slack or Teams, your ITSM, and your other integrations after that.
</Tip>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Activate and connect your IdP">
    Your identity provider tells Lumos who your users are and which apps they use.

    * [Activating Your Lumos Account](/kb/integrations-3/reference-1/activating-your-lumos-account)
    * [Okta](/integrations/library/okta)
    * [Microsoft 365 / Entra ID (Azure)](/integrations/library/microsoft-365-azure-ad-entra-id)
    * [Active Directory](/integrations/library/active-directory)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure your source of truth">
    Your source of truth is usually your IdP or your HRIS, like Workday. User attributes such as manager, team, title, and department come from it, and approvals and access reviews depend on them.

    * [Source of Truth](/kb/appstore/source-of-truth/source-of-truth)
    * [Importing User Sources](/kb/appstore/source-of-truth/importing-user-sources)
    * [Managing Identities](/kb/appstore/source-of-truth/managing-identities)
    * [Configuring Account-to-Identity Matching Rules](/kb/identities/configuring-account-to-identity-matching-rules)
    * [Adding User Attributes to Access Requests](/kb/appstore/configuring-your-appstore/adding-user-attributes-to-access-requests)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect your email system">
    Lumos uses your email provider to find the apps your employees use and to contact requesters and approvers. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are supported.

    * [Google Workspace](/integrations/library/google-workspace)
    * [Microsoft 365 / Entra ID](/integrations/library/microsoft-365-azure-ad-entra-id)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect Slack or Teams">
    Employees can request access and approvers can respond without leaving chat.

    * [Slack](/integrations/library/slack/slack-messaging)
    * [Requesting Access to an App from Slack](/kb/quick_start_guide/appstore-1/appstore_explainers_for_new_employees_new_to_appstore/requesting-access-to-an-app-from-slack)
    * [Microsoft Teams](/integrations/library/microsoft-teams)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure global settings">
    These defaults apply across your whole organization. Before launch, set up notifications, your ITSM, AppStore defaults, and branding.

    Optional: send events to your SIEM ([Splunk](/integrations/library/splunk-siem) or [Datadog](/integrations/library/datadog/datadog-siem)) or set up [webhooks](/docs/webhooks).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect key integrations">
    Not sure which apps to connect? If you are launching the AppStore first, start with apps that your IdP can't provision through SCIM. A direct integration adds provisioning and deprovisioning for those apps.

    * [Connecting an Integration](/integrations/getting-started/connecting-an-integration)
