# TriNet

## After this article

You'll be able to connect TriNet to Lumos to sync users, and set TriNet as a source of user data.

## Capabilities

| Functionality | Type | Sync | Provision | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| Users | Account | Yes | No | User records synced from TriNet through Merge.dev |

## Required plan and roles

* **TriNet role:** you must have **Admin** permissions in your company's TriNet instance, or have someone share their access with you.
* **Provider:** Lumos connects to TriNet through Merge.dev. See the Merge.dev documentation for provider requirements.

## Read-only access vs provisioning

**Is read-only possible?** Yes, and it's the only mode. The connector only syncs user records through Merge.dev and has no provisioning capability, so every connection is inherently read-only.

**What read-only requires.** Admin permissions in your company's TriNet instance, or an administrator sharing their access with you, then following the steps below to authorize through Merge.dev.

**Watch out for.** There's no provisioning variant of this connector to switch to. If you need TriNet to write access changes back, that isn't supported today.

## Instructions

**Phase 1: Connect in Lumos**

1. Click the TriNet card in your Lumos integrations (reconnect an existing card or add a new one).
2. Click **Connect TriNet**.
3. Follow the instructions in the pop-up that appears to finish connecting the integration.

**Phase 2: Set as a source of user data (optional)**

1. After connecting, set TriNet as a source of user data in Lumos and configure your **Source of Truth** settings.

## Troubleshooting

**Can't connect the integration.** Make sure you have Admin permissions in your company's TriNet instance, or that someone has shared their access with you.
