# Ramp

## After this article

You will be able to connect Ramp to Lumos to sync Ramp users and their roles, and to manage access from Lumos (activating or deactivating users and changing role assignments).

## Capabilities

| Functionality | Type | Sync | Provision | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| Users | Account | Yes | No | User account records. Lumos can activate and deactivate users |
| Roles | Permission | Yes | No | Roles in Ramp. Lumos can assign a role. There is no unassign action, because a Ramp user always holds exactly one role, so you change it by assigning a different one |

## Required plan and roles

* **Ramp role:** the user connecting the integration must be an **Admin** in Ramp.
* **Authentication:** OAuth. You connect by logging in through Ramp's secure login page and granting Lumos the requested scopes. You can disconnect the integration at any time from your Ramp settings.
* **Scopes granted to Lumos:**
  * `business:read` reads business details (credential validation)
  * `users:read` lists users and their role assignments

## Read-only access vs provisioning

**Is read-only possible?** Yes. Connecting Ramp grants Lumos a single OAuth authorization that includes `business:read` and `users:read` together. This integration only supports read functions today.

**Watch out for.** The OAuth grant is tied to the connecting Admin's authorization. If that person loses their Admin role in Ramp or revokes the grant from Ramp settings, sync actions stop.

## Instructions

**Phase 1: Prepare Ramp**

1. Confirm the person connecting has the **Admin** role in Ramp. The OAuth grant carries that user's authorization.

**Phase 2: Connect in Lumos**

1. Find the Ramp card in your Lumos integrations (reconnect an existing card or add a new one).
2. Click **Connect**.
3. Follow the instructions in the pop-up: log in through Ramp's login page and accept the requested scopes.

## API Endpoints Used

<Note>
  The API endpoints this integration uses are available to logged-in Lumos customers. [Log in](/login) to view them.
</Note>

## Troubleshooting

**Connection or sync stops working.** The OAuth grant may have been revoked from your Ramp settings, or the admin who connected may have lost their Admin role. Reconnect the integration as an active Ramp Admin.
