# Personio

*Lumos partners with Merge.dev for the Personio integration. For more on the integration requirements, review the Merge.dev documentation.*

## After this article

You will be able to connect Personio to Lumos to sync users from your HRIS, and use Personio as a source of user data (Source of Truth).

## Capabilities

| Functionality | Type | Sync | Provision | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| Users | Account | Yes | No | User account records from the HRIS |

## Required plan and roles

* **Personio role:** you need **Administrator** permissions in your company's Personio instance, or someone has to share their access with you.

## Read-only access vs provisioning

**Is read-only possible?** Yes, and it's the only mode. Lumos connects to Personio through Merge.dev for read-only HRIS sync. It can't provision or change anything in your Personio instance.

**What read-only requires.** Administrator permissions in your Personio instance, or an Administrator sharing their access with you, then follow the steps below to connect through Merge.dev.

**Watch out for.** Losing Administrator access on the connecting account breaks the sync. There's no provisioning mode to switch to, because this integration doesn't support it.

## Instructions

1. Find the Personio card in your Lumos integrations ([reconnect](https://app.lumosidentity.com/integrations?tab=connected) an existing card or [add a new one](https://app.lumosidentity.com/integrations?tab=can_integrate)).
2. Click the **Connect Personio** button.
3. Follow the instructions in the pop-up that appears to finish connecting the integration.
4. After connecting, set Personio as a source of user data if you want to. See the Source of Truth documentation for the different source-of-truth settings.

## Troubleshooting

**Can't connect the integration.** Confirm you have Administrator permissions in your Personio instance, or that an admin has shared their access with you.
